An Oldie: A Porsche, a Barn and a Goose

"Just Another Saturday Afternoon Cruising Around the Countryside" 22" x 30"

I painted this picture quite a while back, probably when I was in Junior High. I have no idea where I came up with the composition idea and why I decided to have a goose standing right in the road. I kinda like this picture though and wish I would have finished it, but by the looks of it I must have gotten stuck trying to figure out how to paint the goose's feet or the shadows or something. Either way this is still my favorite painting depicting a German sports car with wild fowl in a rural setting. =)

I like your art. Did your family have a blueberry farm in Vancouver? Did you win the geography bee? I'm telling you, the name is familiar. We home schooled in Vancouver in 90-92.

Two for two! I didn't think both would be right. I just had these vague associations. I am 28, but my brother Matt is 26 and Sarah is 23, so I ran with the younger crowd. I remember watching you win that bee! No one in my family participated. Beyond geography songs, we weren't much inclined that way. Let's see. I did homeschool volleyball, those monthly "show-and-tell" gatherings, testing and sewing class. We were only in Vancouver for two years; my family moved to Aberdeen when I was 13. I returned to the area to attend Multnomah, and then I moved to Colorado Springs for my job. The rest of my family still lives in the Northwest. So there's my life story. Funny you found me through Frank's blog!

I adored home school skate! I do a mean Hokey Pokey. I'm a writer and editor. If you visit www.boundless.org and search for my articles (Suzanne Hadley) there's a "contact me" if you'd like to continue this via e-mail.

Dude... I'm telling you man... blogging is crazy.

It's crazy how people end up finding each other who knew each other in the past.

And Suzanne... you don't look 28... I was like... "no way"

Crazy..

Wait... oh yea the original reason I was going to post the comment...

I'm not sure I like the reflection of the car off the pavement... is it supposed to be wet outside?

oh and another thing... what are the chances you'd be able to drive up to Vancouver BC and hang out for a day?

I don't know how far it is to drive... actually just e-mail me (e-mail addy found here: http://www.iseedaylight.com/about.php).

Frank, I agree, I'm not completely fond of the picture myself, I think I painted it when I was like 14, but I just found it and it amused me so I decided to post it. Actually I think the wet pavement reflection problem was one of the reasons I never finished it.

Meeting people over the blogoshpere is pretty cool. You never know who you'll meet.

What day are you guys up there? I have to go to Bellingham later in the week anyway, but I'm not sure where my passport is. If I can find it and you guys are around when I'm in the area sure. Sounds like good fun. =)
